Wafid (GAMCA) Medical for UAE Jobs from Pakistan: Booking, Fee, Centres

Wafid GAMCA medical steps for UAE jobs from Pakistan: book slip, medical exam, check result, protector and visa

Last checked: 9 October 2026, against Wafid’s official booking page, FAQ and medical centre list, and the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment.

A Wafid medical is the pre-travel health check that people going to work in the Gulf book through wafid.com, the programme run by the Gulf Health Council. Most people in Pakistan still call it the GAMCA medical. You book an appointment online, pay a booking fee of $10 (or $25 for a premium appointment), take the medical at an approved centre in your city, and then check your result online with your passport number.

This guide is for Pakistani job seekers with a UAE offer. It explains when you need a Wafid medical, how to book it without paying an agent, what the medical centre checks, how to read your result, and what comes next with the Protector and the UAE visa.

Do you need a Wafid medical for a UAE job?

It depends on your visa and on what your employer or recruitment agency asks for. The UAE is one of the destinations on the Wafid booking form, under the visa types Work Visa, Family Visa and Study Visa. Some UAE employers and recruitment agencies ask Pakistani candidates for a Wafid report before they process the visa. Others do not.

Two things are not optional:

  • In Pakistan: if you register with the Protector of Emigrants as a direct emigrant (a job you found yourself, without a licensed promoter), the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment lists a “medical fitness report from approved medical centers of specified countries” among the required documents. See the BE&OE emigrant protection page.
  • In the UAE: every new employee still has to pass the UAE medical fitness test after arrival before the residence visa and Emirates ID are issued. A Wafid report does not replace it. Our guide to the UAE medical fitness test explains that step.

If your offer letter or agent says you need a “GAMCA medical”, they mean a Wafid medical. Ask them in writing which destination and visa type to select, so the slip matches your visa.

Wafid and GAMCA: what changed

GAMCA stands for the GCC Approved Medical Centers Association. For years, Pakistani workers booked their Gulf medical through GAMCA centres and printed a “GAMCA slip”. The booking system is now called Wafid and is run by the Gulf Health Council. Search terms such as “gamca medical”, “gamca slip” and “gamca medical check online” all refer to the same process on wafid.com.

Because the old name is still popular, many websites use “GAMCA” or “Wafid” in their domain and charge extra to book for you. They are not the official site. The only official booking site is wafid.com.

How to book a Wafid (GAMCA) medical appointment

  1. Open the official booking page. Go to Book an Appointment on wafid.com.
  2. Choose your location. Country: Pakistan. City: the city where you will take the medical. Country travelling to: UAE.
  3. Choose the visa type. Work Visa for a job offer.
  4. Choose the appointment type. A standard appointment ($10) assigns a centre automatically, based on availability. A premium appointment ($25) lets you choose the medical centre and the appointment date.
  5. Enter your details exactly as in your passport. Name, passport number, date of birth, passport issue and expiry dates, place of issue, profession and visa details. Check every field. A wrong digit means a correction request later.
  6. Pay online by card. Wafid asks for the card expiry date in YYMM format (year first, then month). If payment fails, try another card or browser and check your card is enabled for online payments.
  7. Download and print your slip. The slip shows your medical centre, its address and the slip’s validity. If you lose it, use Appointment Slips with your passport number and nationality.

Go to the medical centre as soon as possible after you receive the slip. If you paid but did not get a slip, or paid twice, Wafid asks you to email its support team with your passport number, payment date and time, card details and a bank statement showing the transaction.

Wafid (GAMCA) medical fees in Pakistan

Call the centre named on your slip and ask for the exam fee before you travel to it. If a website or agent asks you to pay several thousand rupees just for the slip, most of that is their own service charge on top of Wafid’s $10. You can book the slip yourself in about 15 minutes with a debit or credit card.

Wafid medical centres in Pakistan

Wafid’s Medical Centers List shows the approved centres by country and city. For Pakistan, the city list includes:

  • Punjab: Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur
  • Sindh: Karachi
  • Islamabad Capital Territory: Islamabad
  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Peshawar, Chakdara
  • Balochistan: Quetta, Gwadar, Turbat, Khuzdar, Panjgur

Search the list by city to see each centre’s address and phone number. With a standard appointment you cannot pick the centre, and you can only change city after your current slip expires. If a centre near you matters, book a premium appointment instead.

What to take to the medical centre

Take your printed slip and your original passport. Centres in Pakistan commonly also ask for your original CNIC and copies, recent passport-size photographs and a copy of your passport. Some ask for a letter from your agency or employer. Call the centre the day before to confirm their list.

On the day, take any medicines you use regularly, a list of them, and any previous reports for long-term conditions. If you are or may be pregnant, tell the staff before the chest X-ray.

What the Wafid medical checks

The exam is built to find the conditions that make a candidate unfit under Gulf Health Council rules. Expect a general check-up (including blood pressure), blood tests, and a chest X-ray. The checks cover:

  • Infectious diseases: HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, malaria and microfilaria, leprosy, and tuberculosis (through the chest X-ray).
  • Non-infectious conditions: kidney failure, liver failure, heart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure, uncontrolled diabetes, cancers, psychiatric or neurological disorders, very low haemoglobin, and any disability that would stop you doing the job.

The full technical standards are in the Gulf Health Council’s documents on the Wafid guidelines page.

How to check your Wafid (GAMCA) medical report online

  1. Open Medical Examination Result on wafid.com.
  2. Enter your passport number and select Pakistan as your nationality, or enter your slip number.
  3. The page shows your status. Print or save the result for your employer or agent.

Wafid says results appear within 26 days of the exam. If your status is still pending after that, contact the medical centre first. Our GAMCA medical report guide explains each status and how to fix “no record found”.

If your result says unfit

An unfit result usually means one of the conditions above was found. For a closer look at each condition and the next steps, see what an unfit GAMCA medical report means. Wafid’s public FAQ does not describe an appeal process, so take these steps:

  • Ask the medical centre which test led to the result, and ask for a copy of the report.
  • See your own doctor about the finding. Some conditions, such as high blood pressure or diabetes, are listed as unfit only when uncontrolled.
  • Tell your employer or agency honestly. They will know whether the visa can continue.
  • Wafid allows a new booking 2 months after the date of an existing report.

Never pay anyone who offers to “clear” an unfit result or arrange a fit report. That is fraud, and the UAE medical after arrival will test you again.

Wrong details on your slip or report

If your name, passport number, date of birth, profession or visa details are wrong, go back to the medical centre and ask them to submit a change request (“change candidate details” or “change medical exam request”). Ask for the change request number and date. Wafid states that this request is free, so do not pay for it.

Report validity and booking again

  • Your slip shows its own validity period. You cannot move to another city until it expires.
  • Wafid calculates the report’s expiry from the date the record was last modified, not the original exam date. Check the date on your report before you submit it.
  • You can book a new medical 2 months after the date of an existing valid report.

Visa processing can take weeks, so take the medical when your employer is ready to apply for the visa, not months before.

After a fit result: next steps for a UAE job

  1. Protector of Emigrants. Register with the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment, directly or through your licensed Overseas Employment Promoter. Direct emigrants need the medical fitness report, the visa, the employment contract, insurance and fee receipts.
  2. Other documents. Your employer may also ask for a police clearance certificate and attested degree certificates.
  3. Visa and travel. Your employer applies for the entry permit. Our guide on how a UAE work visa is processed covers the employer’s side.
  4. In the UAE. Pass the UAE medical fitness test, then complete biometrics for your Emirates ID.

GAMCA medical fees, appointments and centre choice

Is Wafid the same as GAMCA?

Yes, for job seekers it is the same process. GAMCA was the older name used for the GCC-approved medical centres and slips. Booking and result checks now happen on wafid.com, run by the Gulf Health Council.

How much is the Wafid medical fee in Pakistan?

The booking fee is $10 for a standard appointment or $25 for a premium one, paid online. The medical exam fee is separate and is charged by the centre, so confirm it with the centre on your slip.

Can I choose my GAMCA medical centre?

Not with a standard appointment, where the centre is assigned by city. A premium appointment lets you choose the centre and date.

How can I check my GAMCA medical online?

Use the Medical Examination Result page on wafid.com with your passport number and nationality, or your slip number.

Do I still need a medical test in the UAE?

Yes. The UAE medical fitness test after arrival is required for the residence visa, even if you passed a Wafid medical in Pakistan.
