Last checked: 10 October 2026, against MOHRE’s enquiry portal and services, and UAE labour law.
A MOHRE enquiry is a free online check of your records with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). Open the MOHRE enquiry portal, choose a service such as “Electronic Work Permit Information” or “Application Status”, and enter the reference number it asks for. You can also check your approved contract and job offer through MOHRE’s other online services.
This guide is for private-sector employees and job seekers. It shows which service to use, where to find the numbers you need, what the result means and what to do if your record is missing or wrong.

How to do a MOHRE enquiry online
- Open the official portal. Type inquiry.mohre.gov.ae yourself rather than following a link from a message.
- Choose the service. Pick the record you need from “Choose a service”, for example Electronic Work Permit Information.
- Enter the details the form asks for. Depending on the service, this is your transaction number, person code, company number, emirate or date of birth.
- Type the verification code and press Search.
- Check and print the result. Compare the name, employer, job title and dates with your offer letter or contract, then use the Print button to keep a copy.
If the portal does not load, try again later, use the MOHRE app, or ask your employer’s HR team for a copy of the record.
Where to find your transaction number and person code
- Transaction number: printed on MOHRE documents your employer gives you, such as the job offer, contract or application receipt. If you do not have it, ask HR for the transaction number of your application.
- Person code: your personal number in MOHRE’s system, shown on your work permit (labour card). It stays linked to you when you change jobs.
- Company number: your employer’s establishment number with MOHRE. HR can give it to you, and it often appears on MOHRE documents.
Your Emirates ID number and passport number are different from these. Do not enter one in place of another. Our labour card number guide explains the numbers on your work permit in more detail.
How to check your approved labour contract
Your approved contract is the version registered with MOHRE. A company letter or a screenshot does not replace it.
- Open MOHRE’s View Approved Contract service on the MOHRE website or app.
- Enter the details requested. Use your own UAE Pass if the service asks you to log in.
- Save a copy and check your name, employer, job title, salary and contract dates.
If the contract differs from what you agreed, ask HR in writing to correct it before you sign or start work. Use our offer letter and contract checklist to compare the two.
Check a job offer before you travel
MOHRE’s Offer Inquiry service lets you check a job offer or contract with its transaction number. A registered offer is a good sign, but it does not mean your work permit has been issued. Read our guide on how to check whether a job offer is genuine before you pay for anything or travel.
How to track a MOHRE application
Use “Application Status” on the enquiry portal, or MOHRE’s Transactions Inquiry Service, with the transaction number from HR.
An application, an approved offer and an issued work permit are separate stages. A “processing” status means MOHRE has not finished. Do not let anyone submit a second application because the first seems slow. Ask HR whether a document, payment or correction is still outstanding.
The work permit is only one part of moving to a job in the UAE. The residence visa is handled by the immigration authorities. Our visit visa to work visa guide explains how the two fit together.
What to do if your record is missing or wrong
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| No record found | Check the number and service you chose. Then ask HR for the transaction number and the stage of the application |
| No record after a passport renewal | Ask HR whether the application still uses your old passport details |
| Offer found, but no contract or permit | The application may not have reached that stage yet. Ask HR |
| Wrong name, nationality or job title | Ask HR to submit a correction to MOHRE |
| Employer works in DIFC, ADGM or another free zone | Your permit may be issued by the free zone authority, not MOHRE. Ask HR which authority holds your record |
A blank result is not proof of fraud or a labour ban. Write down the service, the number you entered and any error message before you contact HR or MOHRE.
Using your records in a salary complaint
If your salary is late or unpaid, your MOHRE records help prove what was agreed. Keep:
- your approved contract and any salary changes
- your work permit details and Emirates ID
- payslips and bank statements showing what was paid
- messages with HR about the missing salary
Example: if two full months of AED 5,000 are unpaid, your claim starts at AED 10,000. List any part payments separately.
File through MOHRE’s labour complaint service or call the Labour Claims and Advisory Centre on 80084. Our MOHRE salary complaint guide covers the steps, and the WPS salary guide explains how salary payments are recorded.
Scams to avoid
- Never pay anyone to “check”, “unlock” or “clear” your MOHRE record or remove a labour ban. The enquiry is free.
- Never share your UAE Pass password or one-time code.
- Do not trust a PDF on WhatsApp because it shows a ministry logo. Check the record yourself on the official portal.
- Under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, employers may not charge workers recruitment or employment costs. Read who pays recruitment fees if someone asks you for money.
Common questions about the MOHRE enquiry service
Is the MOHRE enquiry free?
Yes. Checking your records on the MOHRE enquiry portal costs nothing.
Can I check my labour card with my passport number?
The enquiry portal uses MOHRE numbers such as the transaction number and person code, not your passport number. Ask HR for these if you do not have them.
Can I check my work permit status online?
Yes. Choose “Electronic Work Permit Information” for an issued permit, or “Application Status” for one that is still being processed.
Does a registered job offer mean my visa is approved?
No. It shows the offer is registered with MOHRE. The work permit and residence visa are later steps.
Who can I call about a MOHRE enquiry?
Call MOHRE on 600590000 for service questions, or the Labour Claims and Advisory Centre on 80084 for complaints and employment advice.
