Jobs in Dubai for Visit Visa Holders in 2026: Companies That Hire

By Farooq Malik | August 7, 2026

You can accept a job in Dubai while holding a visit visa, but you cannot start working until an employer sponsors your MOHRE work permit and submits a Change Status application. Many visit visa holders complete this process without leaving the UAE. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has also reduced processing time through its Work Bundle system.

This guide explains how the process works, which industries hire visit visa candidates, and what employers usually require.

Is It Legal to Work in Dubai on a Visit Visa?

Working without an approved work permit is illegal under Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021, the UAE Labour Law. Both the employee and employer may receive fines for breaking the rules.

The legal process starts with a genuine job offer. After you accept it, the employer applies for your MOHRE work permit through Tasheel and submits a Change Status request through ICP or GDRFA. Once the application receives initial approval, you can receive a 60-day employment entry permit.

You then complete your medical fitness test, biometrics, and Emirates ID application without leaving the UAE, provided your visit visa remains valid.

How MOHRE’s Work Bundle Reduces Processing Time

MOHRE’s integrated Work Bundle platform reduced the previous process from seven in-person visits and 16 documents to two visits and five documents. Work permit approval generally takes about five business days.

The complete process, including medical screening and Emirates ID issuance, usually takes two to three weeks. Employers must also comply with the Wage Protection System (WPS). MOHRE can prevent non-compliant companies from applying for new work permits.

Temporary Work Permit for Visit Visa Holders

Employers can apply for a Temporary Work Permit (TWP) when they need staff for short-term or seasonal work. The permit can remain valid for up to six months and may suit roles in event staffing, retail promotions, and seasonal hospitality.

If another person or company currently sponsors you, your potential employer must obtain a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) before submitting the application.

Industries and Companies That Hire Visit Visa Candidates

Several industries in Dubai regularly recruit people who already live in the UAE on visit visas. Demand is often higher during tourist seasons, major events, and periods of staff turnover.

  • Hospitality and food service: Hotels, restaurants, catering companies, and event caterers often recruit before busy tourist periods.
  • Retail and customer service: Mall stores, showrooms, and promotional agencies hire staff for product launches, sales campaigns, and customer support.
  • Logistics, delivery, and e-commerce: Warehouses, courier companies, and last-mile delivery providers recruit throughout the year.
  • Events and exhibitions: Companies that staff exhibitions and trade shows at Dubai World Trade Centre often need temporary workers.
  • Construction and facilities management: Infrastructure projects create ongoing demand for skilled and semi-skilled workers.
  • BPO and call centers: Customer support centers frequently seek candidates who speak multiple languages.

Recruitment agencies such as Kelly Services, Charterhouse, Cooper Fitch, Michael Page, and NADIA Global may process work permits for candidates on visit visas on behalf of their client companies.

Job websites including Bayt, GulfTalent, Naukrigulf, Indeed UAE, and uaelivejobs.com also list vacancies for candidates who are already in the UAE. Check each listing carefully because some employers require a transferable visa, local experience, or a specific qualification.

Emiratisation quotas apply to private companies with 50 or more employees in designated sectors, including banking, insurance, healthcare, and retail. These quotas reserve some positions for UAE nationals, but they do not prevent companies from hiring visit visa holders for other eligible roles.

How to Change a Visit Visa to a Work Visa

  1. Receive and sign a job offer that follows the MOHRE format.
  2. The employer submits your work permit application through Tasheel.
  3. The employer files the Change Status request through ICP or GDRFA.
  4. Receive approval in principle for the 60-day employment entry permit.
  5. Complete the medical fitness test and provide your biometric information.
  6. Apply for your Emirates ID and sign the MOHRE labor contract electronically.
  7. Attend the Tawjeeh induction session. You can legally begin work only after completing the required steps and receiving clearance.

The DHA’s AI-assisted medical screening is scheduled to apply from July 2026, according to the information provided for this process.

Documents You Usually Need

Prepare the following documents:

  • A copy of your valid passport
  • A copy of your current visit visa
  • A passport-size photograph
  • A signed job offer
  • Attested educational certificates, when required for the position
  • An NOC if another party sponsors you
  • Medical fitness clearance

The exact requirements may vary depending on your job, employer, visa status, and nationality.

FAQs About Working in Dubai on a Visit Visa

Do I have to leave the UAE to change my visit visa to a work visa?

No. If your visit visa is still valid, you can complete the Change Status process inside the UAE through ICP or GDRFA.

Who pays the visa and work permit fees?

The employer must pay the visa and work permit costs under UAE labor law. An employer who asks you to pay a personal “visa fee” may be violating the law.

Can I work for two companies with one work permit?

No. You need a separate MOHRE part-time or temporary work permit for work with a second company.

What happens if my visit visa expires before my work permit is approved?

You must leave and re-enter the UAE, or extend your visit visa through ICP or GDRFA before it expires. Overstaying can result in fines of AED 50 per day.

Check the Employer Before Accepting an Offer

Before signing a job offer, verify the company’s trade license and WPS compliance. MOHRE checks employer records when processing work permit applications, and companies that fail to meet the requirements may not be able to sponsor new workers.

A legitimate employer should not charge you a personal “visa fee.” For reliable information, check the company’s details and consult the official MOHRE website at mohre.gov.ae.

Add FAQPage schema markup to the FAQ section, link internally to your MOHRE work permit guide and recruitment agency directory, and cite mohre.gov.ae as the external government source.
